It's the middle of the night and you're trying to catch some z's — or brooding alone in the alleys, as one does — when your phone dings and suddenly a stranger or a friend is texting you. What could they possibly want at this hour? Is it important? Stupid? Are they drunk or maybe just needy? Do they need help hiding a body??? Pick up your phone and find out!

instructions: What it says on the tin! Leave a comment with your character, include preferences, a start, absolutely nothing or whatever you want. Run around and reply to others. Lather, rinse, repeat.

The Night Market

Even as the sky gets dark, there's still a lot of lights and life all over this busy street full of people. Vendors and customers from all over come to share and appreciate their creations, taking in this lively atmosphere. Eat, drink, be merry - but watch out for pickpockets and price gouging.

Rules:

1. Comment with your characters. Feel free to specify if they're a vendor/merchant, performer, or someone just here to enjoy the market.
2. Hang out, meet new people, laugh at the bootleg toys, and stuff your faces with good food and drinks.

Two characters have to share a room for the night. Every room is occupied, but fortunately there is one last room available.

Unrequited Love Meme

Love. Love is a many splendored thing. All you need is love! Except when it hurts because the person you adore doesn't have the same feelings towards you. Then it's a curse.

This meme is very simple, with only a few prompts on its own. But don't let that stop you from letting your imagination run wild, especially if you have a penchant for the tragic. Maybe it's not all bad, though. There could be a silver lining...

HOW TO PLAY

Comment with your character and your preferences. Also, be sure to mention if you want you character to be the lover or the loved (or either), for lack of more refined labels.
Tag around to others.
Either use the RNG or come up with your own scene.

Prompts

Unnoticed: Your beloved doesn't notice you or doesn't know your feelings.
Just Be Friends: They don't think of you in that way.
Confession: You finally work up the courage to tell them, even if they don't love you back.
There's Someone Else: Your beloved is with another person, perhaps a person they love.
Can't Take It: You can no longer stay by their side because it's killing you.
Forbidden: It's not just unrequited, it's actually not allowed!
UST: Unresolved Sexual Tension! Neither of you realizes how you feel or why, and it's causing friction.
Returned: You thought it was a one-sided love, but turns out they do love you back!

little steps

No matter how much they care for the other person and want to be with them, some people simply can't dive head first into relationships. Little things that form intimacy and romance, little acts we take for granted - being close, holding hands, kissing, showing affection in public - they won't or can't do...at least not right off the bat. Something in their past, their experiences, their trauma, or even their personality holds them back. For both them and the person they're "dating," as it were, this can lead to a frustrating experience.

Still, steps can be taken towards letting the walls fall down. Little, tiny steps, but those can mean the world all the same.

The People
One With the help of a partner, one person warms up.
Two Both sides of this couple are learning how to be in a relationship and to be open.

The Actions
Talking → A relationship can't exist if there's not some communication, so either learn to use your words or become so close you can speak without them.
Spending Time → Even such mundane occurrences as watching TV or cooking together is new ground.
Touching → You might just find you enjoy reaching out and touching them.
Kissing → Another kind of touch, when you think about it.
Cuddling → ...at least they're warm and, hopefully, soft.
Sleeping → You're at your absolute weakest when you're asleep. It shows trust to doze off around this person.
Public Display → It's one thing to be in love in private, but showing you care in public is a different story.
Kind Words → Three little words (more or less) are all it takes. Why, then, are they so hard to get out?
Sex The ultimate stumbling block to some. To be laid blissfully bare is to truly let your guard down.

Puppy Love Turned More Meme

When the two of you were young, you were inseparable. You played together, dreamed together, did absolutely everything together. A day without the other was unthinkable. Other people joked that you two were a pair of little lovebirds; what they didn't know is that they were absolutely right. Of course, it was the kind of innocent love that only children could have, but you were in love.

Book Club Meme

Hey, you've been meaning to join a book club! Unless you haven't and you've been forced here by friend or by gunpoint. If it's the latter, uh, sorry. We've got snacks!

HOW TO PLAY
- All top levels should be by someone "hosting" a book club, by which I mean some character puts a title in their subject line (ie, Jane Eyre comments with Wuthering Heights in hers, along with blank comment) and everyone else tags in with either dialogue or description.
- Is your character asking questions about what they've read? Trying to stir the pot since they're here for drama? Maybe they stole all the donuts while no one else was looking. Let us not forget that most honored of book club members, either: the person who didn't read at all, searched Wikipedia frantically for a synopsis, and is now desperately trying to pretend they have a valuable contribution to the discussion.
- Threadhopping/threadjacking will happen.
- Books also don't have to be real. Part of the fun is making up dumb titles your character would have on their Goodreads.
